Mario Obledo, Jr. is a San Antonio native with nearly 20 years of experience in government, public policy, advocacy, and community engagement at the local, state, and federal levels. His public service background includes roles with the California State Controller’s Office, California Department of Corrections (HQ), Texas Attorney General’s Office, a Texas State Senator, a former Mayor of San Antonio, a U.S. Congressional office, and a County Judge’s office.

For nearly 14 years, Mario has worked with the San Antonio Food Bank leading efforts in policy, advocacy, and government relations across city, county, state, and federal systems. He also serves on Feeding America’s Public Engagement & Advocacy Committee (PEAC). Mario has extensive experience collaborating with community
leaders, chambers of commerce, and nonprofit organizations throughout South Texas.


Passionate about improving healthcare access for children and families, Mario was also a co-founder of San Antonians’ for a South Texas Children’s Hospital, an organization dedicated to advocating for a dedicated pediatric center of excellence in South Texas. Mario is a devoted husband and father who remains committed to strengthening
communities through public service and advocacy.
